Item Description: A Pride of Rabbis, A Cycle of Prints and Words by Cyril Satorsky, The Aquarias Press, Baltimore MD, 1970. Signed. Limited Edition, this being #5 of 250. Twelve prints handprinted on full rag paper. A collection of satirical and ribald poems regarding rabbis. Sheets are folded 23 x 17.5 inches with a poem on one half and the illustration on the other. Illustrations in near fine condition. Portfolio is in very good condition with slight splits to paste downs on the inside at the spine. Slipcase is moderately worn with rubbing at corners.

Front page detached/torn containing “With compliments” and signed by 13 artists. String binding. Green boards with gilt title that is fading. Boards are quite worn with some paper loss at the binding. Text is in Japanese but illustrations use English text. Final page is torn and creased. Some foxing throughout. Small moisture mark to front pastedown. A few small tears on pages. Overall good condition with some tears and wear.

Burgundy boards sunned around edge on front (Appears a book was left lying on it for a while).

Item Description: jambes nues et bas de soie, 1 novembre 1930, cet album contient 34 photos et documents inedits. Cover has writing in ink on it. Page 1, 5, 7, 9, 17 have a previous one-inch round owner’s stamp. Several pages have tape residue. Page 17/18 appears to have been badly torn and reglued. French text Interior binding appears to be reinforced. Very interesting, artistic nude photos including two photomontage; one with what appears to be a crab claw, the second with a pair of plyers that is the same size as the nude female. Photos are by Studio Manasse; From the flap of “Divas and Lovers,” which is included; “The Manasse’s, a husband-and-wife team from the Viennese beau Monde, used retouching techniques to create curreal and noir images that seethe with erotic symbolism…”

Item Description: The Jealous Husband, Miguel De Cervantes, Prologue By Walter Starkie, Illustrated Edition with Etchings and Typographical Ornaments By Andres Lambert. This number 145 of 150 copies printed in English. The Spanish edition was 250. The French edition 150. Edition based on the translation of Jame Mabbe made in 1640 and edited in 1900 by S. W. Orson. 119 pages. Ten etchings by Andrea Lambert (tissues present). Many pages still uncut. Separate Spanish text of 55 pages also present. In box. Box is a little worn and has fairly heavy foxing. (No foxing in the book. One small quarter inch tear to joint of spine and front cover.

Item Description: The Development of William Butler Yeats, V. K. Narayana Menon, Oliver and Boyd, Edinburgh, 1942. Hardcover with dust jacket, 8vo, 92 pages. Signed by Menon “Morgan with much love Naryana.” Sticker “This book belongs to E. M. Forster.” The two men had a life-long friendship after E.M. Forster reviewed the book favourably on BBC radio.  Blue boards are in very good condition with mild rubbing to corners. Dust jacket has several chips and tears around edges.

Small sticker on back pastedown.

15.  Alberta photo album 1909

Item Description: R.M.B. Hospital ’09 Vegreville Alberta, photo album from 1909. Ten pages plus brown card covers, string binding. 31 photos still pasted in, (not well as some glue has torn away tissue paper and at least one photo has come off. Nine loose photos and one loose postcard. Images are black and white; some nurses, children, hospital, carriages, homes and a group photo of boys at the the Home Vegreville (dated)1911-1912. Album cover is dated 1909 but it is not known when the album was put together. Overall condition good.

Item Description: Appear to be ordination or first mass photos of a priest. From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania circa 1950’s in spiral album. 24 8 x 10 black and white photos. Front hinge of binding is split.

Item Description: Munn, Abe Munn Picture Frame MFG. Inc. sample book of picture frames. Spiral binder. 84 photos/illustrations. No date. Some browning to edges and the last dozen have some damage, staining. Company is still in business, from their website:

“In 1955, Abe Munn co-founded APF with his brothers Morris and Ben after developing his craft with master framers Julius Lowy and Robert Kulicke. After a few years of work at APF, Munn opened his own business, Abe Munn Picture Frames, in 1959. The sole product of the business was unfinished mouldings, which would be gilded or painted later by the buyer. With the addition of new employees a few years later, Munn expanded the operation to include specialty carved frames and eventually hand-laid gold leaf finishes.”

Signed by John Furnival. 10 etched plates within embossed borders, each numbered and initialed in pencil. Limited signed edition, this one of 30 Artist’s Proof copies from a total edition of 300. Condition Near Fine. Included: An extra etched watercolour “Omphale goes out walking” signed by the artist. All loose as issued in original cloth portfolio, slipcase. 4to. Also included, ephemera: a postcard from John Furnival to Joan Tucker ( of Alan and Joan Tucker’s Bookshop, Stroud, Gloucestershire) 2002, inquiring if some books are still available.

Item Description: Oblique Strategies Over one hundred worthwhile dilemmas, Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt, 1979. Third Edition, again slightly altered. Black box with gilt lettering; 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches. 126 cards including title and instruction cards. One top corner of box split. Rubbing to edges of boxes. Cards are in very good condition. Cards were designed by Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt to spark creativity. Each card has a short phrase meant to create action or thought and erase creative blocks.

25.  Chess Euclid

Item Description: The Chess Euclid; A Collection of Two Hundred Chess Problems and End-Games, Composed by Herr Kling. H. Hurst and Co., London, 1849. 8vo. Rubbing to board edges and corners. General wear to board with a small something written at top corner close to the spine on the leather. Small paper loss on front board. There is some illegible ink on front flyleaf from something that was at one point laid in. Front paste down to flyleaf paper is split but no hinge showing; Binding is still strong. Bottom corner of title page at spine is torn about three-quarters of an inch. There is foxing to endpapers with some in the text.

Page 143 misnumbered as page 148 (There is a page 148). Pages overall clean. Binding is very good. Fairly rare chess item.
